G+E’s Elmley Nature Reserve Wedding

Grant and Emma’s Wedding at Elmley Nature Reserve

Today’s blog post takes us to a beautiful location in Kent last summer. This Elmley Nature Reserve Wedding had an earthy, natural theme throughout, in keeping with the marshlands and grassy fields of the reserve itself.

When everyone was ready we all made our way outside to take some photographs of the beautiful Bride and her bridesmaids. The bouquets provided a pop of colour against the neutral, earthy tones that the wedding had. The flowers were all different lengths and colours with a few long quill-like additions. Splashes of blue, pink, yellow, red, and orange contrasted well with the layered greens of foliage. The bouquets looked like an awesome collection of a wild, blossoming meadow. Claire from ‘ did such an amazing job creating these flowers!

When we made our way to the barn for the ceremony, I couldn’t help but notice the large window at the front. It gave me the perfect lighting to work with, a natural spotlight on Emma and Grant as they made their vows to each other. The ceremony was a combination of tears of joy mixed with laughter and sprinkled with signing and positive vibes! When the bride and groom tied the knot, they made their way outside where their guests exploded colourful confetti poppers. The bright, wild flowers and wooden building continued the earthy, folk theme of the wedding as the guests mingled and had fun.

As the guests were finding their seats for dining, I took  the newlyweds for some photos. I took the couple right into the centre of one of the grassy plains to capture the beautiful backdrop of the rolling green fields and marshland. The Barn was ready for its guests! The chairs were wooden with golden bows and the tables had that colourful pop of flowers in the centre. The speeches were hilarious! There was so much laughter and tears of joy throughout them.

After the speeches, the sun was setting quickly so we went outside to capture that golden hour glow. Emma and Grant arranged for a dairy ice cream stall to serve guests while the sun was shining. Everyone had a blastEach tier of their wedding cake was made of donuts with a small cake at the top – a great idea if you’re looking for something different for your Wedding Day! After everyone was fed, we all headed back into the barn to watch the couples first dance. In true nature reserve style, the lights that shone on the ground were in the shape of leaves which made the pictures super interesting and fun! Everyone partied for the rest of the evening in true wedding style! We took some drunken photos by the tractor outside and the guests all got onto the dance floor to boogie the rest of the evening away. As the night drew in, it was time to get the final shots of the Emma and Grant’s Elmley Nature Reserve Wedding Day…
